Quinta Da Devesa Colheita Port 1944

A Tawny Port from a single harvest and exceptional quality, aged for a minimum of 7 years in cask, representing less than 1% of the total production of Port every year. Like a Vintage Port, a Colheita is only released when the best conditions are gathered. Whilst it ages, its young fruity and fresh aromas develop through oxidation to create an increased smoothness harmony and complexity. A rare WW2 Colheita Port, produced and aged in Quinta da Devesa for over 70 years, the colour has green hints, proving its long age. The deep tawny colour has green, verdant flecks around the edges highlighting that you are about to taste a wine of great age. On the nose there are complex notes of dried fruits, raisins, tobacco, spices, caramel, nougat, honey and coffee. On the palate, these combine to make a powerful fusion supported by a lively acidity – this is an immense wine with a silky texture. The finish is an endless crescendo of flavours and textures.
