Baron de Brane is the prestigious second wine of Château Brane-Cantenac, a Second Grand Cru Classé estate in the celebrated Margaux appellation. The 2017 vintage is a fine expression of this terroir — approachable in its youth yet with genuine ageing potential.
A blend of 53% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Carmenère. Aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
Eye: Deep, vibrant ruby with purple reflections.
Nose: A very refined nose with redcurrants, red flowers and a complex mix of light, fresh earth and tobacco leaf. Very expressive, bursting with strawberry and cherry aromas, with floral and vanilla hints.
Palate: A bright, fresh impression with fine, lively tannins and a very vibrant and succulent red-fruit finish. The attack is round, almost sweet, the tannins supple and fine.
Food Pairing
Best enjoyed with a grilled beef rib with shallot butter. Also pairs beautifully with lamb, duck, and aged cheeses.
Serving: Decant for 1 hour before serving. Best at 16–18°C.
