Clos de l’Oratoire is a prestigious Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Émilion, part of the celebrated Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg family portfolio. The estate’s 10-hectare vineyard sits on the northeast slope of Saint-Émilion, combining clay-limestone hillsides and sandy clay soils — ideal terroir for Merlot. Sustainable, biodynamic viticulture is practised throughout, with no herbicides, pesticides or insecticides.
The 2019 is a blend of 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc. 2019 is widely considered one of the finest recent vintages for Saint-Émilion.
Tasting Notes
Eye: Deep, dark, virtually opaque ruby red.
Nose: Ripe black fruit with some red fruit notes, tobacco leaf, damp earth, exotic flowers and chocolaty nuances.
Palate: Rich, medium to full-bodied and seamless, with gorgeous tannins, no hard edges and a great finish. It leans plush and inviting up front — dark berries, cherry and cocoa — then firms up with powdery tannins and fresh Cabernet Franc lift through the finish.
