Ferraton Père & Fils, owned by Chapoutier but run as a fully autonomous estate, is one of the most respected names in the Northern Rhône. Les Eygats is a single lieu-dit cuvée of exceptional character — a true expression of Cornas at altitude.
100% Syrah. The lieu-dit is located at high altitude (300m) above the village of Cornas, on steep slopes of very decomposed granite, south-east facing with strong winds — a late-ripening site of great character.
Grapes are destemmed and macerated in concrete vats for approximately 4 weeks, with extraction by pumping over and punching down. The wine is then aged for 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, around 10% new.
