Clos De Sommere Bourgogne Pinot Noir Aux Concises 2023 – Magnum

Clos de Somméré is born from the alliance of two cousins, Régis and Sylvain, and the Santé family — vignerons in La Roche-Vineuse since 1848. From 2023, the two cousins took a fresh direction, bringing rigour, passion and a deep respect for their clay-limestone terroirs to a 10-hectare estate nestled between Mâcon and Cluny in the heart of the Mâconnais. Members of the Vignerons Indépendants, Régis and Sylvain work closely with the natural rhythms of the vineyard, avoiding excessive intervention from vine to bottle. Their ambition is simple: wines that are fine, honest and rooted in their origin.

Terroir & Vinification

Aux Concises is a lieu-dit on the clay-limestone hillsides of La Roche-Vineuse — a terroir well-suited to Pinot Noir, offering both the warmth to ripen fruit fully and the elevation and limestone subsoil to preserve natural freshness and mineral precision. The 2023 vintage was generous and sun-drenched across southern Burgundy, delivering expressive, ripe fruit with good structure.

Harvest is carried out by hand, with grapes sorted and fully destemmed before fermentation. A 10-day maceration in tank allows gentle colour and tannin extraction without heaviness. The wine is aged entirely in stainless steel on fine lees, preserving the freshness and primary fruit character of the lieu-dit. It is bottled with minimal intervention.

Tasting Notes

Eye: Bright ruby with violet glints — fresh, clean and vivid.

Nose: Expressive and generous, leading with ripe red cherry, wild strawberry and a hint of spice. A subtle earthy undertone adds depth, while a light floral lift keeps the profile lively and inviting.

Palate: Supple and round, with juicy, fruit-forward mid-palate texture and soft, well-integrated tannins. Good natural acidity provides balance and freshness, while a gentle spiced note on the finish adds character and length. Approachable now, with enough structure to hold over the near term.

Food Pairing

Versatile and convivial — ideal with charcuterie, jambon persillé, grilled red meats, roast chicken or a selection of semi-aged cheeses. On the Asian table, a natural companion for Cantonese roast pork, light stir-fries or braised dishes with soy and five-spice.
